Step 1: Install and connect Coefficient

Get Coefficient installed in your Excel application to start.

  1. Open Excel.
  2. Go to the Insert tab.
  3. Click Get Add-ins.
  4. Search for and install “”Coefficient”” from the Office Add-ins store.
  5. Open the Coefficient sidebar, found in the Home or Add-ins tab.
  6. Click “”Import from…”” and select Basecamp. Follow the steps to connect your Basecamp account.

Step 2: Import the Messages data

With the connection ready, you can now bring in your Messages data.

  1. In the Coefficient sidebar for the Basecamp connector, choose to import from an **Object**.
  2. Find and select the “”Messages”” object from the list.
  3. Choose the specific message data fields you want to bring into Excel.
  4. Apply any filters or sorting needed for your data.
  5. Click “”Import”” to pull the data into your sheet.

Step 3: Set up auto-refresh (Optional)

Keep your Messages data current automatically.

  1. After the data is imported, find your import listed in the Coefficient sidebar next to the Refresh button.
  2. Click the refresh settings icon.
  3. Select “”Schedule”” to automate updates.
  4. Choose how often the data should refresh (e.g., hourly, daily) and set a time.
  5. Save the schedule. Your Messages data will now update on its own.
